Designated Institute of the CMI

Based on a contract with the Czech Metrology Institute (CMI), the VF Calibration Laboratory (VFCL) has become its Designated Institute in the field of high dose rate calibrations.

It has also become a member of the CIPM MRA agreement and is a member of EURAMET.

CALIBRATION OF RADIATION ACCIDENT MONITORS

•    Equipment used: ionization chamber connected to the main standard of CMI. State standard of exposure, exposure power, kerma in air and kerma rate in air of photon radiation | Czech Metrological Institute (cmi.cz)

•    Calibration method: Comparative measurement with an external radionuclide source. The radionuclides used may vary according to the availability of an external radionuclide source (e.g. Co-60, Cs-137, Ir-192, Se 75)

•    Quantities of ionizing radiation dosimetry and their range:

Quantities of ionizing radiation dosimetry Range
Kerma in air Ka 15 Gy – 25000  Gy
Kerma rate in air pKa 15 Gy/h – 25000 Gy/h

Location: Calibration is usually conducted on the customer's site or on the site of the high dose rate radionuclide source provider.
